
On Tuesday 20th January 2026, three USET staff who have successfully completed their doctorate programs at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Engr Prof. Nazmat T. Surajudeen-Bakinde and Team at the USET Brikama Campus. They are:
- Dr. Edward Ceasar Mansal – Ph.D. Structural Engineering,
- Dr. Alieu Jallow – Ph.D. Structural Engineering,
- Dr. Amadou Baldeh – Ph.D. Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
In her welcoming remarks, the Vice-Chancellor thanked and congratulated them for this achievement on behalf of the Chairperson of the Governing Council. She commended them for their determination and endurance as Ph.D. is really tough and demanding, adding that this is a big plus for USET. She prayed for God to bless their degrees.
Professor Nazmat pointed out that the assignment given to her and her Team is a sacred one, and they are not going to do it any how, but rather, they will do all they could to deliver success. She said they are not here to stay, and as such, we should all play our part in order to put USET in a better shape.
She called on the new graduates to join hands with Management and work as a team, as this is the only way forward. She highlighted that the end result is what matters, and as such, everyone should cooperate, adding that we need to have a working system. She said despite the fact that we have issues, we can combat them together. She termed the graduates as special to the University, and indeed has plans for them.

Dr. Amadou Baldeh indicated that he is happy to be back. He acknowledged the progress registered in USET at this point in time, and also pointed out their involvement during the transformative phases. He expressed happiness to be back to an institution where he serves for almost thirty years, and assured the Vice-Chancellor that he is ready to render his maximum support towards the betterment of the University. He concluded that USET is no doubt in good hands.
Dr. Alieu Jallow thanked Allah for helping them to complete their programs successfully. He equally thanked the Vice-Chancellor for receiving them. He said they have been following the developments taken place in USET. He assured the Vice-Chancellor that he is ready to serve, and he will serve well. He said he is ready to work with Management to deliver to the best of his ability.
Dr. Edward Ceasar Mansal said he is grateful with the progress registered in the University. He said he still stand by his promise that he will cooperate with the managements to ensure that USET succeeds. He said he and his colleagues are committed to helping the management, and they are ready to carry out any task that the management assigns to them.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics congratulated the trio for their remarkable achievements. As alluded to by the Vice-Chancellor, he emphasized the need for team work in order to realize our objectives. He thanked them and welcomed them back to USET.
The Vice-Chancellor assured them that their placements will be concluded as soon as possible. She challenged them to come up with any idea or proposal that will drive the University forward.
The vote-of-thanks was delivered by Dr. Mansal on behalf of his colleagues. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor and her management team for the support given to them.
