On 18 March 2026, the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) paid a courtesy call on the Gambia Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in a meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration and mutual support.

The visit focused on expressing appreciation for the invaluable manpower support provided, as well as renewing commitment to cooperation in the areas of training and capacity building.

The CDS delegation was led by Mamat Cham, alongside the Deputy CDS and other high-ranking senior security officers. On the side of USET, the delegation was headed by the Vice Chancellor and included the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and members of the Steering Committee,

Discussions during the meeting emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between academic institutions and national security bodies, particularly in developing skilled human resources and enhancing institutional capacity.

Both parties reaffirmed their shared interest in building a strong, long term partnership that contributes to national development and professional excellence.
